Financial Aid


Access the Financial Aid Office Web page on the Current Students menu on the Ogeechee Technical College homepage. There you will find very helpful information, copies of forms, guidelines for veterans, and answers to frequently asked financial aid questions.

OTC Financial AidThere are Several Types of Financial Aid:

  • Pell Grant is a federal need-based grant that does not have to be repaid. Any remaining funds that a student is eligible for will be disbursed to the student.

    Hope Scholarship is state aid awarded to Georgia residents in an associate degree program who are academically HOPE scholarship eligible. This aid covers a portion of tuition ($70.00 per semester hour for 2017-2018).

    Hope Grant is state aid awarded to Georgia residents in a diploma or certificate program. This aid covers a portion of tuition ($70.00 per semester hour for 2017-2018).

    Zell Miller Scholarship is state aid awarded to Georgia residents in an associate degree program who are academically Zell Miller scholarship eligible. This aid covers all tuition ($75 per semester hour for 2012-2013).

    Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) is a federal need-based grant awarded to those who have not earned a bachelor's or professional degree. Federal PELL grant recipients take priority; funds depend on availability at school.

    Zell Grant is a state aid awarded to Georgia residents who have not earned a bachelor's or professional degree, and who have demonstrated academic achievement and are enrolled in a certificate or diploma program. Students must have a 3.5 GPA. Pays for a maximum of 63 HOPE paid hours.

    Hope Career Grant is available to ZELL/HOPE Grant recipients enrolled in designated programs. Commercial Truck Driving students receive a $1,000 one-time award.

    Student Access Loan - Technical (SALT) is available to Georgia residents with financial need enrolled at a Technical College System of Georgia institution; borrowers must be enrolled half time (6 hours).

Applying for Financial Aid

All applicants must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It is recommended that students file their FAFSA at least four to six weeks prior to the date the funds will be needed. The application is available online at www.FAFSA.ed.gov. Your FAFSA must be renewed each year by April 15th.
